With Modern Society Fashion Trend
Integrate your Western accents with accessories, be it necklaces (Bolo ties, necklaces, conch-style necklaces, etc.) or belts. If you are going to make a piece of clothing, choose one, such as a linen blouse or womens linen dresses. The suede pieces always give a little western feel as well. Too many western pieces together can begin to become quite literal. I would not mix the cowboy boots with the clothing. -Andrea Peña, with MODERN Society
DO: Start Small
Integrate one or two pieces at a time if you want to facilitate the trend. Try it with an accessory if you are not sure of the appearance. (They can always be removed without having to change your entire outfit.) Choose items that are subtle with western influence. -Tara Hamilton, with STAXX
DO NOT: Buy parts you wear once
Take your style and fit the pieces in it, be it boots, a fringed or turquoise jacket and silver jewelry. Do not buy parts you wear once. By integrating key pieces and wearing them with confidence, you will create a style that is not only Western, but really your own. -Cortney Little-Ash, with PFI Western Store
DO: Make it modern
The mix of silver and turquoise accessories with black makes your look more modern. If you mix more suitable pieces with your western pieces, it will also give it a more modern fit. -A.P.
DO: Working with accessories
A red or turquoise bandana worn as a scarf can add a flair to a solid shirt or dress. A bag of fringe is a great accessory and changes any outfit. Belts with conchos can make an incredible LBD look! -C.L.
DO: Have fun with him
Think outside the box! Use the bandana as a bracelet, instead of a simple tie. Lay a double loop belt on a maxi if you want to add a western vibe, but still keep the feminine look. -T.H.
DO: Trying to work
I would work Western in a work wardrobe with accessories or a nice blouse. You can find a more modern blouse that may have some details, such as pearly buttons, to wear under a jacket. Or if you can find a nice suede jacket, this would be a perfect addition. -A.P.
DO NOT: Exaggerate
Find a style that works for you and is easy. For example, a fringe item is great. Two could cause entanglement. Remember the old myth of wearing white after Labor Day? Well, that's true for wearing straw hats. The Labor Day at Easter is felt season. -C.L.
DO: Try new colors and textures
Suede is huge and an easy way to incorporate the western look without being exaggerated. Turquoise is fun to add a little color and always keep the theme and stay up to date with the trend. In denim (a western classic), look for western details on the yoke or buttons or tip it with a denim skirt or a pair of jeans with a western pocket. White linen has the western ambience and can be dressed up or down. Look for embroidery and beading on a leather jacket, blouse or bag and leather machined in belts, jewelry and bags. -T.H.
